The front of the Samsung Z2 is all about the 4-inch WVGA display, with the Samsung branding, notification LED, earpiece and the usual array of sensors on the top and three navigation keys. The centre button is physical, flanked by appswitcher and back buttons (both capacitive). The volume rocker is placed on the right edge of the smartphone, while the power button is placed on the left.
The top edge is home to a 3.5mm audio jack, while the microUSB port sits at the bottom. As for the rear, the textured back houses a 5MP camera, LED flash and the speaker grille, along with the Samsung branding. At the lower back, the phone also sports the 4G branding.Overall, we found the build quality of the phone to be quite sturdy for the price. Thanks to the small screen size, it’s also really easy to use and has a great in-hand feel.
Samsung Z2 comes with a 4-inch WVGA display with 480×800 pixel screen resolution. In the limited we had with it, we found the display to be fairly decent. Viewing angles are fine, as is colour reproduction. However, the small size definitely not for those heavy on mobile gaming and media consumption.
Talking about the camera, the Z2 sports a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3MP front camera. During our limited time usage, we found the cameras to be functional at best. We’ll let you know about their proper performance in our review.
Powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM, the Z2 has 8GB of internal storage and supports microSD cards of up to 128GB in size. The 4G-enabled phone is dual-sim capable.Z2 has a 1,500mAh battery, which the company claims lasts for up to 8 hours. However, that’s something we’ll only be able to test out in our detailed review of the deviceIn terms of connectivity, the smartphone comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n,Bluetooth v4.0, USB 2.0, GPS and Glonass.Even though we used the device for a short while, we experienced a bit of lag with the device. This was especially visible when switching apps. We’ll reserve our final verdict till we review the device in detail.
Samsung Z2 runs the company’s home-grown Tizen OS. It also comes with Reliance Jio’s apps such as Jio Beats (for music), Jio on Demand (for movies and TV shows) and My Jio (to manage account and services). The phone also comes with some useful features such as My Money Transfer, S Bike mode, Ultra data saving. There are also a few preloaded apps likeWhatsApp and Ola.Samsung Z2’s interface can be customized with numerous themes.
